Inspired by a patient assessment the Proximat® has been developed and tested by experienced physiotherapists in association with Manchester PCT and The North West NHS Innovation Hub (TrusTECH®).
A reliability study* of the Proximat® showed that, as well as being easier and simpler in use than a goniometer, the Proximat® proved to be a more reliable tool for measuring hip range movement.
The Proximat® is a measurement tool that can be used to measure outcome. One of the core standards for physiotherapists is to use published, standardised outcome tools in their regular clinical practice.
These tools should be reliable, responsive and preferably easy to use. The publication of the Proximat® study in Physiotherapy Research International demonstrates the Proximat® to be all of these things.
